1994–2008
The Foundation Years – Laying the First Stones of Hospitality
1994 – Matina Studios and Apartments was created! Just one block of 10 Studios & Apartments, already a popular choice for holidaymakers thanks to its close proximity to the beautiful Pefkos Beach.
1999 – Four more buildings were constructed (Blocks 2, 3, 4, and 5), and Matina Studios and Apartments officially became Matina Pefkos ApartHotel. A snack bar and the first swimming pool were added, and Matina quickly gained popularity among returning guests.
2000 – Just one year later, two more buildings (Blocks 6 and 7) were completed. All rooms were now one-bedroom apartments, making Matina even more suitable for families.
2008 – During the winter of 2008, Matina underwent its largest expansion yet. By summer 2009, two new accommodation blocks (Blocks 8 and 9), a brand-new swimming pool, a children’s pool, the à la carte Meltemi restaurant, the People snack bar, and the abc Supermarket were all added—transforming Matina into a fully-fledged family resort.
2012–2019
The Celebration Years – Weddings, Dining & Everlasting Memories
2012 – Thea Rooftop was launched as a stunning venue for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Located above Reception with panoramic sea views, it quickly became a favourite for couples looking to tie the knot in Pefkos.
2013 – The Courtyard, nestled behind Reception, was introduced as an intimate wedding space—ideal for smaller gatherings. It was further renovated in 2016 to extend sea views across Pefkos Bay.
2016 – The private Chapel of Agia Ekaterini & Agios Georgios became our first onsite venue for weddings and vow renewals. Accompanying the chapel was our bespoke Honeymoon Suite, offering exclusive views of the chapel garden.
2017 – Our Helios Lounge was launched to host breakfast for Bed & Breakfast and Half Board guests. With generous buffet offerings and spacious indoor-outdoor seating, Helios helped increase the popularity of these board options.
2019 – Our original Matina Family Snack Bar received a stylish refurbishment. With extended outdoor seating, a modern enclosed bar and new furnishings, the upgraded space elevated our guests’ dining and leisure experience.
2022–2025
The Evolution Years – Thoughtful Upgrades & Inspired Additions
2022 – The People Bar pool area was upgraded with new tiling and a complete refurbishment of sun loungers and poolside furniture, enhancing both style and comfort.
2023 – We proudly introduced a fully accessible studio, designed for guests with mobility restrictions. Featuring ground-floor access and an improved layout, it offered greater comfort and inclusivity.
2024 – The Matina Snack Bar Pool underwent a full renovation with modern tiling and the addition of elegant roman steps, enhancing the guest experience by the water.
May 2024 – The Meltemi Rooftop opened its doors, offering elevated dining with a view. Alongside this, we launched our new reservation system, making booking a table effortless. The lower level of Meltemi was also refurbished, complete with a new layout and upgraded facilities.
June 19, 2024 – Our brand-new Italian restaurant, La Strada, opened to the public. With authentic cuisine and stylish ambiance, it quickly became a beloved dining option for guests and visitors alike.
May 2025 – Our People Bar Pool received its biggest makeover to date. The pool was fully retiled offering a more modern and contemporary feel along with fresh exterior tiling and sun loungers.
